General Sullivan presents Merit Chapter streamers to BG (Ret) Norm Hoffman & COL (Ret) George Lanning
The Columbia River Chapter is an active and viable organization that represents a membership of 550 plus in Oregon, Southern Washington, and in the combat theaters of Iraq and Afghanistan.
We have responded to the call to be the Voice for the Army and to provide Support for the Soldier. The Columbia River Chapter is doing its part to support the goals and objectives of our association. The Chapter supports the mission of AUSA through participation in the development of resolutions on matters that affect the Army, the Army Reserve, and the Army National Guard. We also support soldiers and their families through participation in local activities and other community involvement.
Your Executive Committee is moving forward with improvements in communication and in member support. Here are just a few of the events that we have helped sponsor during the 2006-2007 Chapter year. They include the “Healing Field" Memorial flag event in Salem and the Regional 9-11 Memorial ceremony at Civic Stadium in Eugene. We are helping fund the Veteran's Parade in Florence and Springfield, the Defense Education Committee's joint service "swearing in" ceremony in Eugene, the 4th Annual Troop & Veteran's Appreciation Day in McMinnville, and the Iraq/Afghanistan War Memorial in Salem. Our golf tournament netted over $5000 dollars for the Coalition for Troop Support. We are also looking forward to hosting the 6th Region's Annual Meeting in Seaside during April.
More activities like these are planned. With your support, we will make a difference for northwest soldiers and their families!
